Ten Supreme Court lawyers on Tuesday filed a writ in the High Court seeking cancellation of 60 khata plots previously allocated to Awami League President and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and other family members.
The allocations were made by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).
The ten petitioners are – Md Rezaul Islam, Al Reza, Md Amir, Md Golam Kibria, Mohammad Harun, Md Belayet Hossain Soza, Kamrul Islam Reagan, Hasan Mahmud Khan, Shahinur Rahman Shaheen, and Md Zillur Rahman, reports Amader Shomoy.
The writ sought direction to take action under the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Act against the beneficiaries involved in the allotment of those plots. Apart from this, instructions have been sought to form a three-member committee headed by a High Court judge to investigate these allocations.
The petitioner lawyers said the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina received the plot in her name in the Purbachal New City Project. His son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul also received plots.
Apart from this, Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq and daughter Tulip Siddiq also received ten khata plots each.
Lawyers pointed out that Sheikh Hasina and her family members received these plots back in 2022. The matter was later marked as a top secret matter of the state. As a result, except for a few, even many in RAJUK do not know anything about the matter.
