The High Court on Wednesday granted an 8-week anticipatory bail to Iftekhar Rafsan, known as "Rafsan the Choto Bhai," in a case related to the production and marketing of the unauthorized drink “Blue.”
The High Court bench of justices Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Md Bashir Ullah passed the order on Wednesday after Rafsan appeared before the court and applied for bail.
During the bail hearing, the High Court emphasised that there will be no compromise on food quality, as it poses a threat to public interest.
On behalf of Rafsan, a report from the Science Laboratory regarding the unauthorized electrolyte drink was submitted. However, the court was not satisfied with the report.
Senior lawyers Shah Manjurul Haque and Barrister M Harunur Rashid stood for Rafsan in court.
On June 13, a Dhaka court issued an arrest warrant against Iftekhar Rafsan over the allegation of marketing unauthorised drink “Blue.”
Bishuddho Khaddo Adalot Judge Alaul Akbar issued the arrest warrant.
Kamrul Islam, a food inspector of Dhaka South City Corporation, recently filed the case against Iftekhar Rafsan in Dhaka Bishuddho Khaddo Adalat.
