Due to rampant violence amid non-cooperation movement – organised by students’ platform Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon – court proceedings have been suspended across the country until further notice.

A notification, signed by the Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan, read, “Taking into consideration the country’s current situation, activities of both Supreme Court divisions and all courts across the country is declared shut from Monday until further orders.

“The Chief Justice may order any court to conduct proceedings at any time. In this case, one or more judges in the Chief Judicial Magistrate and Chief Metropolitan Magistrate courts will be on full-time duty under constitutional obligation.”

The quota reform movement turned violent in recent times due to deaths across the country. Hundreds of thousands of people gathered at Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday under the banner of Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon.

Amid patriotic songs and slogans, a non-cooperation movement was announced from the Shaheed Minar with one-point demand.

On Sunday, as part of the movement, students started gathering at various key points in the capital from Sunday morning. Violent clashes erupted soon after.
