Bangladesh reported one new coronavirus-related death and 237 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Thursday.

During this period, the positivity rate declined to 1.21 from Wednesday’s 1.31 per cent. With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 2 per cent for the 23nd consecutive day.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,71,690 and the total fatalities at 27,907 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 19,544 samples at 836 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,05,45,473 samples.

Meanwhile, 231 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,35,892.

Dhaka division logged one fatality.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 251,576,095 and the death toll to 5,075,443 till Thursday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
