Twelve more people, including four women, died at the Covid-19 unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital in the past 24 hours till Sunday morning.

One of the deceased tested positive for Covid-19 while others died with Covid-like-symptoms, said RMCH Director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani.

Among the deceased, six were from Rajshahi, three from Chapainawabganj, and one each from Natore, Naogaon, and Pabna.

With 77 new cases, a total of 485 patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital against 405 beds.

In a 24-hour period, 562 samples were tested in two PCR labs set up in the hospital and the medical college. Of those, 186 came out positive, the director added.

So far, 462 people died at RMCH till Sunday morning.

The RMCH, on June 29, reported 25 deaths from the novel coronavirus infection, which is the highest single-day death toll at the hospital so far.
