Bangladesh added 88 new coronavirus-related deaths and 3,436 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Thursday.
The overall caseload now stands at 15,07,116 and the total fatalities at 26,362, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 30,025 samples at 791 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 89,91,664 samples.
Meanwhile, 5,901 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 14,37,885.
In the last 24 hours, the positivity rate dropped to 10.40 per cent from Wednesday’s 10.11 per cent.
Among the fresh fatalities, 54 were males and 34 were females.
Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with 30 fatalities; followed by 27 in Chattogram; 10 in Sylhet; 7 in Khulna; 5 in Rajshahi; 3 each in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barishal.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
Meanwhile, global Covid-19 caseload reached 219,433,228 and the death toll to 4,548,431 till Wednesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
