Bangladesh reported 114 new coronavirus-related deaths over the last 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday.

Health authorities also reported 5,249 new infections from the deadly virus during the same period.

With these, the overall caseload now stands at 14,72,964 and total fatalities at 25,513, according to the daily press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the last 24 hours, the positivity rate went down slightly to 15.12 per cent from Monday’s 15.54 per cent.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 34,708 samples at 736 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 86,86,306 samples.

Meanwhile, 8,907 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 13,81,763.

Among the fresh fatalities, 56 were males and 58 were females.

Dhaka division was the worst-hit region logging 42 deaths followed by 29 in Chattogram, 13 in Khulna, 9 in Sylhet, 6 each in Rajshahi and Rangpur, 5 in Barishal, and 4 in Mymensingh.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
