Covid-19: Bangladesh logs 2 more deaths, 235 cases in 24hrs

Bangladesh reported two new coronavirus-related death and 235 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Wednesday.

During this period, the positivity rate rose to 1.31 from Tuesday's 1.18 per cent. With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 2 per cent for the 22nd consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,71,669 and the total fatalities at 27,906 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,987 samples at 834 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,05,25,929 samples.

Meanwhile, 271 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,35,661.

Dhaka and Chattogram divisions logged one fatality each.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 251,013,256 and the death toll to 5,067,465 till Wednesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
