Bangladesh reported four new coronavirus-related death and 178 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Sunday.

During this period, the positivity rate dropped to 1.17 from Saturday's 1.18 per cent.

With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 2 per cent for the 19th consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,71,013, and the total fatalities at 27,895 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 15,234 samples at 834 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,04,73,600 samples.

Meanwhile, 190 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,34,825.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with two fatalities, followed by one each in Chattogram and Rajshahi.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 249,623,004 and the death toll to 5,046,721 till Sunday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
