Bangladesh reported four new coronavirus-related death and 234 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Monday.

During this period, the positivity rate rose to 1.32 from Sunday’s 1.14 per cent. With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 2 per cent for the 27th consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,72,735 and the total fatalities at 27,926 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,700 samples at 836 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,06,13,490 samples.

Meanwhile, 229 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,36,744.

Chattogram division logged the highest number of deaths with two fatalities: followed by Dhaka and Rajshahi logged one each.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 253,431,979 and the death toll to 5,102,855 till Monday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
