Bangladesh reported 6 new coronavirus-related deaths and 211 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Sunday.

The positivity rate during this period marginally declined to 1.22 per cent from Saturday's 1.25 per cent.

With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 5 per cent for nearly six weeks.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,69,539 and the total fatalities at 27,868 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,226 samples at 833 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,03,49,870 samples.

Meanwhile, 276 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,33,423.

Among the fresh fatalities, two were males and four were females.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with three fatalities; followed by two in Chattogram and one in Khulna.

Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Barishal divisions reported no new deaths.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 246,522,160 and the death toll to 4,997,330 till Saturday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
