Bangladesh on Wednesday added seven new coronavirus-related deaths and 256 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am.

During this period, the positivity rate marginally went up to 1.31 per cent from Tuesday's 1.14 per cent.

With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 2 per cent for the 15th consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak of 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,70,238 and the total fatalities at 27,880 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 19,523 samples at 833 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,04,09,158 samples.

Meanwhile, 237 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,34,073.

Among the fresh fatalities, five were males and two were females.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with three fatalities, followed by one each in Chattogram, Rajshahi, and Sylhet.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 248,408,351 and the death toll to 5,031,300 till Wednesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
