Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 187 deaths in 24hrs

Bangladesh on Sunday reported 187 new coronavirus-related deaths over the last 24 hours till 8:00am.

Besides, 6,684 cases from the deadly virus were reported during the same period.

The country's overall caseload now stands at 14,18,902 and total fatalities at 24,175, according to a daily press release issued by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

In the 24 hours, the positivity rate dropped to 20.25 per cent from Saturday's 20.66 per cent.

However, the death rate remained constant at 1.70 following the previous day. 

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 31,403 samples at 709 laboratories across the country. 

Meanwhile, 11,371 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours raising the overall recovery to 12,92,698.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
