Covid-19: Bangladesh reports 5 more deaths, 177 new infections

Bangladesh registered 5 more Covid related deaths and 177 news infections in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning. 

According to the latest data, the total number of fatalities reached 28,022 while the positivity rate was recorded 1.13 per cent on Friday.    

After adding the fresh cases, the total caseload jumped to 15,78,996 said a regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 15,632 samples at 848 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,10,98,586 samples.

At the same time, 122 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,43,862.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid cases reached 269,263,590 and fatalities reached 5,298,223.
