Bangladesh reported 25 new coronavirus-related deaths and 818 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Saturday.

Health authorities also reported a 4.59 per cent positivity rate, which remains below 5 per cent for the fifth consecutive day.

With this, daily deaths dropped below the 1,000-mark after more than four months, since May 17 when 698 deaths were reported.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,50,371 and the total fatalities at 27,393 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,818 samples at 815 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 95,96,929 samples.

Meanwhile, 965 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,10,167.

Among the fresh fatalities, 14 were males and 11 were females.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with 11 fatalities, followed by six in Chattogram, four in Khulna, two each in Sylhet and Rangpur.

Rajshahi, Barishal and Mymensingh divisions reported no new deaths.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 231,990,471 and the death toll to 4,753,170 till Saturday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
