Covid-19: Daily test positivity rate climbs to 28.49%

Bangladesh on Friday recorded another 11,434 new cases of Covid-19, with the country's daily test positivity rate spiking to 28.49 per cent.

During the time the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded 12 more coronavirus related deaths as the total death toll reached 28,192 and positive cases 16,64,616 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

Of the 12 deceased, seven were male and five female and they were aged between 31-100 years old, added the DGHS release on Friday.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with six fatalities, Sylhet division reported two deaths, while Chittagong, Khulna, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions logged one each.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 40,134 samples at 857 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,20,47,715 samples.

Meanwhile, 752 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,55,597.

On Thursday positivity rate was 26.37 per cent which was 2.43 on January 1.
