Covid-19: Daily test positivity rate climbs to 31.98%

Bangladesh on Thursday recorded another 15,807 new cases of Covid-19, with the country's daily test positivity rate spiking to 31.98 per cent.

During the time the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) recorded 15 more coronavirus related deaths as the total death toll reached 28,288 and positive cases 17,47,331 since the country first detected Covid patient on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

Of the 15 deceased, five were male and 10 female and they were aged between 11-100 years old, added the DGHS release on Thursday.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with eight fatalities, Chittagong division reported three deaths Rajshahi division reported two deaths, while Barishal and Rangpur divisions logged one each.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 49.425 samples at 865 laboratories across the country.

Bangladesh has so far tested 1,23,10,677 samples.

Meanwhile, 1,037 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,61,043.

On Wednesday positivity rate was 31.64 per cent which was 2.43 on January 1.
