Ninety-one people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am on Tuesday, taking its tally to 10,588, Directorate General of Health Services said in a press release.
The figure is, however, lower than that of the previous four days when Bangladesh reported over 100 deaths each day. The country registered the highest 112 deaths on a single day on Monday.
The DGHS also reported 4,559 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, which took the total number of infected people to 727,780.
Though the number of new cases is slightly higher than Monday’s 4,271 cases, the positivity rate dropped to 16.85 from 17.68.
As Bangladesh is experiencing a second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government on Tuesday extended the ongoing lockdown till April 28, as part of the measures to curb the spread of the virus.
