Daily Covid-19 fatalities in Bangladesh continues to decline amid a nationwide lockdown as 37 deaths were reported from the virus in the 24 hours till 8:00 am on Friday, which is the lowest single-day tally in 40 days, according to a release issued by the Directorate of Health Services.

Earlier, the country witnessed a surge in its daily Covid-19 deaths after thirty-five succumed to the virus on March 28 this year.

As of Friday, the 37 fatalities took the death toll to 11,833 in Bangladesh.

Besides, 1,682 people tested positive for the virus in the 24 hours taking the caseloads to 770,842.

The number of recoveries rose to 704,341 with 2,178 patients got cured from the virus pushing the rate of recoveries to 91.37 per cent, said the directorate.

The rate of positivity now stands at 13.77 per cent while mortality rate 1.54 per cent.

Bangladesh is currently under a lockdown that began from April 14 to tackle a second wave of the pandemic.
