Covid-19 infection rate at Chattogram is now more than 21 per cent, making it an area of severe risk of coronavirus infection.
The figures were confirmed in the latest report on coronavirus by the District Civil Surgeon's Office Sunday morning.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), if the coronavirus infection rate in an area crosses 10 per cent, it is identified as a high-risk area.
In the last 24 hours, one person died of coronavirus infection while 136 new cases were detected.
According to the government data, 55,981 Covid cases were detected in Chattogram and a total of 657 people died of the virus so far.
The first Covid-19 patient in Chattogram was identified on April 3 last year.
On April 9, the district witnessed the first death from the deadly infection.
