Sixteen more patients including an infant died at the Covid unit of Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the district's health officials.
“Of the deceased, seven along with a seven-month-old child were Covid-19 positive while nine others died with Covid-like-symptoms,” said Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, spokesperson of Covid unit of MMCH.
Among the fatalities, seven were from Mymensingh, five from Netrokona, three from Sherpur and one from Gazipur.
With newly admitted 52 patients, a total of 429 patients are undergoing treatment against 230 beds while 22 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, he added.
Some 44 other patients returned home after being cured during the same time.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Civil Surgeon of the district said that in the last 24 hours, 1,417 samples were tested and 433 people were identified as Covid positive.
