Bangladesh on Monday recorded 30 deaths in 24 hours till 8:00am according to the routine press release by the Directorate General of Health Services.

The latest death toll takes the total fatalities in the country to 12,869.

Besides, 1,970 people tested positive for the virus during the same period pushing the caseload to 8,12,960.

The rate of positivity now stands at 11.47 per cent for the last 24 hours, while the mortality rate is 1.58 per cent.

In the meantime, the number of recoveries rose to 7,53,240 with 1,918 patients cured of the disease in the 24 hours taking the rate of overall recoveries at 92.65 per cent, said the directorate.

The ongoing restrictions till May 6 have been extended to June 16 to tackle the second wave of Covid-19 situation in Bangladesh.
