A Dhaka court has placed JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury on a three-day remand in a case for issuing fake Covid-19 test certificates.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shahinur Rahman passed the order after a hearing on the case on Monday.

Earlier today, the inspector of Tejgaon Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the accused at the court.

The investigation officer submitted a petition seeking a four-day remand plea while the lawyer of the accused filed a bail petition for cancellation of the remand. After hearing both parties, the court allowed a three-day remand.

On Sunday (July 12), Dr Sabrina, the chairman of Jobeda Khatun Shastha Seba (JKG) Health Care, was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over her alleged involvement in issuing fraudulent Covid-19 test reports.

The health ministry, on the same day, suspended the cardiac surgeon from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases after her arrest.

Earlier, on June 23, police detained five people linked with the Jobeda Khatun General - JKG Health Care, a sister concern of Oval Group, in Dhaka over the allegations that they were involved in issuing fake coronavirus test results without testing the samples in actual.
