Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said the Covid-19 vaccine will be available in Bangladesh after January 15.

He revealed the information at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday after signing a vaccine contract with the Serum Institute of India.

According to the contract, around three crore doses of vaccine will arrive on Bangladesh in the first shipment in six months at a rate of 5 million doses per month.

"If everything goes well, Bangladesh will receive the first shipment of the vaccine after January 15," said the minister.

"But we'll need the approvals of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) for the shipment. We hope we'll get the approvals soon," he added.
