Bangladesh reported 23 new coronavirus-related deaths and 860 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Thursday.
The positivity rate dropped below 4 per cent to 3.24 per cent after seven months. The country earlier recorded a 3.87 per cent positivity rate on March 4 this year.
The overall caseload now stands at 15,55,911 and the total fatalities at 27,510, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 26,569 samples at 821 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 97,31,291 samples.
Meanwhile, 979 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,15,941.
Among the fresh fatalities, 11 were males and 12 were females.
Chattogram division logged the highest deaths with seven fatalities, followed by six in Dhaka, four each in Sylhet and Mymensingh and one each in Barishal and Rangpur.
Rajshahi and Khulna divisions reported no new deaths.
Earlier, the daily death count dropped below 20 to 17 on Wednesday after 126 days.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 233,225,368 and the death toll to 4,773,701 till Thursday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
