Covid-19 antibody or seroprevalence has been found in 71 per cent of residents of Dhaka and 55 per cent of Chattogram, a recent study reveals.

The five-month-long study was conducted on 3,220 people from slum and non-slum areas of the two cities by the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr,b).

The study was carried out at three slums in Dhaka and two slums in Chattogram from October 2020 to February 2021.

The research published on Tuesday titled "Drivers of Covid 19 in Slums and Non-slum Areas of Dhaka and Chattogram" found that the overall adjusted Covid antibody prevalence was 68 per cent among the participants.

The study also showed that the infection rate in slum areas (72 per cent) is higher than that of the non-slum areas (62 per cent).
