Bangladesh registered 41 new coronavirus-related deaths and 1,953 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Monday.

The positivity rate went up slightly to 7.69 per cent from Sunday's 7.46 per cent.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,32,366 and the total fatalities at 26,972, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 25,388 samples at 803 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 92,72,121 samples.

Meanwhile, 4,112 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 14,82,933.

Among the fresh fatalities, 25 were males and 16 were females.

Dhaka and Chattogram divisions logged the highest deaths with 14 fatalities each, followed by 6 in Khulna, 3 in Rajshahi, 2 in Mymensingh, 1 each in Barishal and Sylhet.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

Meanwhile, the global Covid-19 caseload reached 225,586,981 and the death toll to 4,646,239 till Monday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
