Bangladesh on Thursday registered 140 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, while the daily infection rate declined to 3.1 per cent.

The health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 4,511 samples at 883 laboratories across the country.

On Wednesday, the test positivity rate was 4.81 per cent.

The country also recorded one Covid-related death in a 24-hour span, taking the tally to 29,425.

With the fresh infections, the total caseload reached 20,35,657, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Meanwhile, 316 patients recovered from the infection over the last 24 hours, pushing the overall recovery to 19,81,673.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 of the same year.
