Covid: Daily positivity rate drops to 1.38%

Bangladesh on Wednesday registered 182 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours while the daily infection rate slightly drops to 1.38 per cent.

The country also lost no lives from the viral disease in last 24 hours keeping the tally to 29,112.

On Tuesday, the positivity rate stood at 1.54 per cent.

With the fresh infections, the number of total caseload reached 19,50,124, according to the daily virus update by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released on Wednesday afternoon.

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 13,179 samples at 878 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,36,78,632 samples.

Meanwhile, 1,192 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 18,65,600.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8, 2020, and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.

The daily case positivity rate reached its peak at 33.37 per cent on January 28 this year.
