Thirty-one people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till 8:00 am on Friday, taking its tally to 12,511, according to a release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The virus caseloads rose to 7,96,343 with 1,358 new cases registered during the same period.

According to the DGHS, the rate of positivity now stands at 13.49 per cent and the mortality rate 1.57 per cent.

However, 1,064 patients got recovered from the virus in the 24 hours pushing the toll of recoveries to 7,36,221 and the recovery rate at 92.45 per cent.

Bangladesh is observing a nationwide lockdown which is scheduled to continue till May 30, as part of the government-imposed measures taken against the virus spread.
