Cox's Bazar Express, the first commercial train between Dhaka and Cox's Bazar, started operating from the iconic railway station of Cox's Bazar with 1030 passengers on Friday.
The train departed on the much-awaited Dhaka-Cox's Bazar route at 12:30pm on Friday (December 1) as per the pre-determined schedule.
It is scheduled to reach the capital Dhaka via Chattogram at 9:10pm.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially inaugurated the railway project at the newly constructed iconic station in Cox's Bazar on November 11.
After the inauguration, the railway department has completed all the necessary work, including scheduling of trains.
Secretary of the Ministry of Railways Md Humayun Kabir inaugurated the train journey at the Cox's Bazar train station this morning. The railway department officials were present to welcome the passengers.
Golam Rabbani, Station Master of Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station said the first train left Cox's Bazar Iconic Railway Station for Dhaka at 12:30pm Friday with 1030 passengers. The train is scheduled to reach Dhaka at 9:10pm tonight.
Another train from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar will leave Kamalapur station at 10:30 Friday night, he said.
