Fisheries and Livestock Minister Rezaul Karim on Saturday said that an international standard dry fish processing industry is being set up in Cox's Bazar.

"We will set up an international standard dry fish industry in Cox’s Bazar which would be implemented by Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC)," he said.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the office building of the project to set up a dry processing industry in Cox's Bazar district, said a press release.

Referring to Cox's Bazar as an iconic district of Bangladesh, the minister said, "Cox's Bazar is undergoing extensive modernization under the present government".

During his visit, he also inspected various shrimp plots under the Fisheries Department at Rampur in Chakaria Upazila and gave necessary directions to the concerned related to their problems.

BFDC Chairman Hemayet Hossain chaired the programs.
