CPTU holds e-GP awareness workshop in Jhalakathi

An e-GP (electronic government procurement) workshop was organised in Jhalakathi on Monday to help achieve sustainable development in the country and to raise awareness among all concerned for ensuring transparency in the public procurement process.

The Central Procurement Technical Unit (CPTU) under the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) of the Ministry of Planning organised the workshop at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in the district.

The workshop was organised with the support of Bangladesh Center for Communication Programs (BCCP) under CPTU’s Digitizing Implementation Monitoring and Public Procurement Project, funded by the World Bank.

Md Mahfuzar Rahman, director, CPTU, IMED of the planning ministry spoke at the workshop as the chief guest while Farah Gul Nijhum, deputy commissioner and district magistrate, Jhalakathi chaired the event.

Senior Deputy Director of BCCP, Badal Krishna Haldar delivered the welcome address and made a presentation on e-GP at the workshop moderated by Md Abdus Salam, program manager, BCCP. He discussed on Citizen Portal and its effectiveness for the people.

Mahfuzar Rahman said, “This will ensure appropriate use of public money and accelerate the country’s sustainable development.”

He also emphasised the need for proper utilisation of various methods incorporated by the CPTU within the e-GP system for ensuring complete digitisation.

In the presentation, it was emphasised that besides the e-GP Portal, the Citizen Portal will help ensure people’s participation in the monitoring of project implementation as this incorporates features to get access to related information on the projects.
