Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a man over his alleged involvement in selling illegally registered SIM cards in Dhaka.
SM Nayon, 35, was arrested from Jorpukur Khelar Math in the Khilgaon area on Monday night, said RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed.
He said that all the SIM cards Nayon sells are already registered in the name of other people. He has been selling these illegally registered SIM cards for a long time.
Nayon has confessed to committing the crime. RAB is investigating how Nayon got the SIM cards and who else is involved, he said.
The RAB official also said various gangs have been carrying out criminal activities using such SIM cards to avoid the eyes of the law. “Our operation against these fraudsters will continue.”
