A mobile court of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) fined 10 people from three separate companies Tk 9 lakh in the capital's Wari area for storing and selling adulterated engine oil and grease.
"Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court of RAB-3 and Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution conducted the operation in three separate areas in Wari on Thursday. The operation started at 10am and continued till 3.30pm," said RAB-3 Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (media) Farjana Haque.
Of the three companies, six people from SK Traders were fined Taka 1 lakh each. Two employees of Mousumi Traders were fined Tk 50,000 each and two others from SK Trading Corporation were fined Tk 1 lakh each.
RAB sources said the convicted people in primary interrogation, confessed their crimes, saying they were running this business for long.
