Two bus drivers, wanted in connection with the death of a teenaged street hawker due to their rash driving, were arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday.
The arrests of Monir Hossain, 27, from the Dhaka’s Paltan area and Imran Hossain, 34, from Srinagar of Munshiganj district were made on Tuesday night, RAB said.
They have been wanted since the death of 14-year-old Rakibul Islam on January 20 in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area.
Rakibul, a face mask vendor, was caught and crushed between the two speeding buses as the drivers were in a mad competition to overtake each other.
They told RAB investigators that they raced to reach the next stoppage first to board more passengers.
Both of the buses belonged to Ajmeri Glory Paribahan.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) legal and media wing Director Khandaker A Moin said on Wednesday that Monir, originally a helper of one of the buses, was driving the bus after its original driver got off at Gulistan.
He said Imran was also wanted in a case filed with Daudkandi Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.
