The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Monday arrested 25 individuals for their alleged involvement in trading smuggled and stolen mobile phones.
They were arrested from the capital’s Shahbagh, Khilgaon, Jatrabari, Ashulia, and Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj and Sonargaon, said RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed.
“RAB-3 arrested them after conducting raids in different parts of Dhaka and Narayanganj on the basis of several complaints and information from the sources. 355 mobile phones were seized during the drives,” he said.
“The arrestees have been buying and selling these kinds of mobile phones for a long time from different areas of the country including the capital. Members of various criminal gangs used to buy these mobile phones at a low price to stay out of the reach for doing various types of criminal activities.”
