Detectives arrested nine members of a syndicate involved in making fake currencies at Kashmiri Lane in the city's Lalbagh area on Monday.
The arrestees were Babul, Ibrahim, Afazul, Russel, Habibullah, Dulal Hossain, Minara Khatun and Saiful Islam.
Being tipped off, a team of DB police under Lalbagh Zone, led by Assistant Deputy Commissioner Kamal, conducted a drive in the Kashmiri Lane area and challenged four people suspecting their movement on Sunday night, said Mashiur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DB Lalbagh division.
After checking, police recovered 25 lakh fake notes from a bag in their possession.
During interrogation, police came to know that they along with others were involved in making fake notes on the 2nd floor and 5th floor of a building in the area.
A case was filed for this felony.
Among the arrestees, Babul, Minara and Saiful served several jail terms for the same offence.
