Fugitive gold proprietor in Dubai Robiul Islam aka Arav has written an open letter published on social media on Monday, upon receiving Red Notice from Interpol, eliciting public sentiments as he pleads guilty.
The letter read: “To whom it may concern…. Hope you all are doing great and I always wish you well. Even if I can’t make it out alive, I’d appreciate how you all stood by me. Those of you who know me, I ask for your apology if I have ever wronged you knowingly or unknowingly.”
It also read, “I sincerely apologize to my compatriots. Forgive me if I had ever wronged anyone. I don’t know what tomorrow bodes for me. But I seek justice which possibly won’t be served. Nevertheless, I turn to the Almighty for that.”
The police Inspector General (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun has said in the backdrop of an event in Chattogram, that Interpol has sent a Red Notice to the suspect Arav on the charge of homicide that claimed the life of police Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mamun Imran.
The suspect from Kotalipara Thana in Gopalganj has reportedly immigrated to Dubai with an Indian passport.
Nine arrest warrants have been made against the suspect. The arraignments are even higher in number. He is rumored to have more than 20 wives.
The suspect Arav has made a fortune in Dubai worth millions selling gold. He has recently set up yet another shop in Dubai.
Earlier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Saturday (March 18) that efforts were underway to bring Arav Khan alias Rabiul Islam, the fugitive accused in the police officer murder case, to the country through the international police agency Interpol.
The minister said, "All efforts are being made to bring him back with the help of Interpol."
A senior Detective Branch official on Thursday (March 16) said cricketer Shakib al Hasan and content creator Hero Alam who participated in the inauguration of Arav Jewellers in Dubai may be questioned for the sake of investigation.
