A Bangladeshi man was shot to death outside his Brooklyn home in New York City in the early hours of Wednesday.

Modassar Khandakar, 36, was found fatally shot in the head next to his 2009 Honda CRV which had its door open, reports New York Post.

He was unresponsive when cops responded around 12:45am to Forbell Street near Glenmore Avenue in Cypress Hills, police said.

Khandakar was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was declared dead.

A doctor at the hospital told investigators that the bullet entered the victim’s nose and exited the right side of his head, behind his ear, according to the sources.

Police said the motive for the murder was not immediately clear, but it doesn’t appear to be a carjacking.

Khandakar, who worked at JFK International Airport, had a four-year-old son while his friends said family was his whole world, according to CBS New York.Police are continuing to look at surveillance videos from the neighborhood.

Community activists are wondering when the gun violence will stop.

“New York has been a very, very scary place. Parents are scared to come out. Kids are scared to come out. Something has to be done before another life is taken away,” Khairul Islam said.
