Border Guard Bangladesh seized smuggled goods, arms and drugs worth around Tk 1,073.44 crore in various drives across the country last year.
The seized narcotics included 2,24,40,009 Yaba pills, 3,31,785 bottles of phensedyl, 2,13,989 bottles of foreign liquor, 1,31,899 cans of beer, 19,492kg cannabis, 139kg heroin, 7,169 bottles of Cofidil, and 2,37,506 Senegra tablets.
Around 50.433kg gold, 321kg silver, nine touchstone statues, 12,95,542 pieces of cosmetics, 55,947 saris, 9,627 ready-made garments, 53,757kg tea leaves, 1,65,405kg coal, 85 trucks, 60 cars/microbuses, 80 pickup trucks, 368 CNG/battery-run autorickshaws, and 1,103 motorcycles were also seized.
The arms and ammunition seized included 44 pistols, 67 different types of guns, four revolvers, 35 magazines, 32 mortar shells, and 250 bullets.
Legal actions were taken against 3,599 people for their involvement in smuggling.
Some 2,244 Bangladesh and 86 Indian citizens were arrested for crossing the border illegally, BGB said.
