A case was filed on Tuesday night against 621 people, including former Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and former lawmaker Fazley Hossain Badsha, on charges of their alleged involvement in vandalising a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) office in Rajshahi.

BNP’s city unit Joint Convener Bazlur Rahman Montu lodged the case with Boalia Model Police Station mentioning names of 231 leaders and workers of Awami League (AL) and AL-aligned Workers Party of Bangladesh, reports BSS.

Besides, 400 other unnamed people were accused in the case.

In his petition, Bazlur Rahman said a large number of leaders and workers of AL and the Workers Party, led by Liton and Badsha, equipped with firearms and lethal weapons, attacked the city unit BNP office in Malopara area, and vandalised and looted it badly on July 19. They also blasted hand bombs.

SM Masud Parvej, officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station, said they recorded the case and Sub-inspector Sohel Rana was given responsibility to investigate the case.

“Necessary action will be taken after investigation,” he added.
