The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested fugitive Tuhin Reza, who was sentenced to life in the 2005 serial bombings case.

He was arrested from Tejgaon Railgate area in the capital on Thursday. RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lt Col Lt Col Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed gave the information in a press conference organized at RAB's media centre in Kawran Bazar, Dhaka on Friday.

“Tuhin, a member of the banned militant outfit Jamaa't-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), was on the run for 18 years. To evade arrest, he frequently changed the rented house. He used to make a living by doing various software-based work including video editing in a private company,” the RAB official said.

“During primary interrogation, Tuhin said he joined JMB's Jhenaidah Sadar branch in 2004. He used to spread hidden and subversive news, make deceptive movies using different video editing techniques, edit written propaganda, and create flyers for this branch to mislead young people,” Arif Mohiuddin added.

The RAB official said Tuhin, along with other attackers, stayed around the court premises from the early hours of August 17, 2005 and played an active role during the attack.

After the bomb attack, Tuhin took shelter at a camp of JMB. He later came to Dhaka and started living in different areas.
