The Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Police have confirmed that another youth, who was arrested after posting videos of him unscrewing nuts on the Padma Bridge, had used a wrench to loosen nuts before making the video.
Mahdi Hasan, 27, was arrested from Laxmipur’s Ramganj on Wednesday late night, said the CTTC Chief Md Asaduzzaman while addressing a press briefing at DMP Media Center in Dhaka on Thursday.
"Although during primary interrogation he (Mahdi) did not admit using a wrench, we are informing you that he used a wrench to loosen the nuts and then used his hands to finally remove them while making the video,” the CTTC chief said.

Asaduzzaman claimed that Mahdi removed the nuts on the Padma Bridge intentionally with a motive to embarrass the success of the government.
Officials said Mahdi crossed the bridge from the side of Mawa with his companions on the morning of the incident day.
“At around 3:30 pm, while returning from the other side, Mahdi came to the end of Mawa side and opened the nuts of the railing of the bridge and made a video,” he said.
Asaduzzaman said that police has been looking for other associates of Mahdi.
“If they are arrested, it may be possible to recover the wrench used to open the nut. If Mahdi was further questioned, it would be known whether they had any other motives,” he added.
Earlier, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Bayezid Talha from the capital’s Shantinagar for similar offences.
