Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two for their alleged involvement in embezzling huge amounts of money from people by giving fake recruitment notices for contract-based jobs.
The arrestees are – Rubel Ahmed, 35, and Harun Ur Rashid, 43. They were arrested at Dhaka’s Banani area early Wednesday.
Confirming the matter, RAB-3 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed said that Rubel and Harun published a fake job circular for various positions on a contract basis in Sena Kalyan Sangstha.
He said that in a fake circular, Rubel and Harun said that a supervisor will be appointed on a contract basis for 42 months on a monthly salary of Tk 22,000 in that organisation. The notice also mentioned perks such as the provision of bed and board.
With such false lures, huge amounts of money were extorted from the job aspirants. They give fake employment letters to job candidates after getting money from them, Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed said.
During the arrest, RAB also seized one fake job notification, 22 fake appointment letters, one wallet, four mobile phones and Tk 5000 cash.
However, RAB could not immediately provide information about the amount of embezzled money.
