The death row convicts of Maj (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder case — Teknaf Police Station's suspended officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das and Baharchhara Investigation Centre's inspector Liaqat Ali — were transferred to Chattogram central jail from Cox's Bazar jail on Saturday.
District Jailer Dewan Mohammad Tariqul Islam told BSS that they were brought to Chattogram Jail from Cox's Bazar under special arrangements at 1:25pm on Saturday.
He said that Pradeep Kumar Das and Liaquat Ali have been kept in the condemned cell No 32 of the jail upon instructions of higher authorities.
"They will be kept here until further notice," he added.
Earlier, Cox's Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail on January 31 handed down death sentence to Liaqat Ali and Pradeep and six others to life term imprisonment in the murder case of Maj (retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.
The court also acquitted seven others from the charges.
