RAB arrested two more indigenous youths on Saturday accused of being involved in the kidnapping and murder of Shibli Sadiq Hridoy, a college student of Rauzan in Chattogram.
The arrestees were identified as Uchingthoi Marma, 23 and Kasai Ong Chowdhury, 36.
Rab-7 Commander Lt Colonel Md Mahbub Alam confirmed it to the media at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.
Mahbub Alam said the perpetrators abducted Hridoy for protesting against stealing chicken food from a poultry farm and killed him. The body was chopped into pieces so that the body could not be identified.
On Saturday afternoon, RAB arrested the accused Uchingthoi Marma from the Patenga beach area. Based on the information given by Uchingthoi Marma, accused Kasai Ong Chowdhury was arrested on the same day from the New Bridge area around 5pm.
RAB claimed that the arrestees gave statements describing the murder.
While questioned about the news circulated on social media that the murderers had eaten his meat after killing Hridoy, the RAB official said,” We have questioned them about this. They said they didn't know about it. However, it is true that the flesh of the body was thrown apart. There was no information on meat eating.”
On September 11, police recovered Hridoy's chopped body from the deep forest of Rauzan. One of the accused, Umangching Marma, was killed in a mob attack while returning after recovering the body.
Hriday was abducted 14 days before the body was found.
