Criticise but recognise good works: LGRD Minister
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam on Friday said that recognising the government’s good works is important alongside constructive criticism.

“There’ll be mistakes when we work to reach a certain goal or do a good job. We’ll have to move forward ignoring them. Our country will lag behind and suffer losses if we lose patience and sight of our target,” he said at a programme at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB).

“That’s why our good works should be recognised,” the minister said.

Islam inaugurated a project on supplying and setting up LED road lamps in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area.

He said mistakes are natural when one works and there can be constructive criticism to amend the mistakes. “But the right decisions must also be lauded.”

At the programme, Minister Islam vowed to build Dhaka as a clean, modern and livable city.

“All of us must fulfill our duties to turn Dhaka into a livable and humane city in the truest sense. It’s possible to turn the country into a developed and prosperous one if we work together,” he said.

The minister assured the two Dhaka city corporations of providing all necessary assistance to turn the capital into a beautiful city.

Presided over DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam, Local Government Division’s Senior Secretary Helaluddin also attended the programme.
