A man named Masud Rana has died while undergoing treatment after being injured in the deadly explosion at Sitakunda's BM Container Depot on Saturday night.

Medical Police Control Room confirmed that Masud Rana breathed his last at 3:40am on Wednesday. He was an RST operator at the depot.

The death toll from the incident now stands at 44. The victims include nine firefighters.

Earlier on Thursday, the charred remains of two bodies were discovered by firefighters in two separate locations at Sitakunda's BM Container Depot.

It is presumed that one of them was a firefighter, while the other was a security guard.

Meanwhile, after 60 hours of tireless efforts, firefighters were able to bring the devastating blaze at the depot under control on the day.

Authorities have not determined the cause of the disaster but suspect a container of hydrogen peroxide was the source.

"The fire has not been put out completely but there is no risk of further explosion as our team has sorted out the chemical containers… one by one," Senior Fire Service Official Monir Hossain told Reuters.
