Chattogram Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL) on Tuesday suspended its production due to a fire incident at its waste boiler.
The fire broke out in the waste boiler of CUFL's primary reformer pipe of the ammonia plant at the southern end of the state-owned urea fertiliser company around 9.30am, Mahmudur Rahman, deputy manager of CUFL told BSS.
According to the factory officials, the fire was extinguished after half an hour of relentless efforts by four fire-fighting units from different areas.
The urea fertiliser production has been suspended temporarily, CUFL sources said.
The factory will resume its production soon after the damage inspection and repair work, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a probe committee was formed to find out the extent of damage and the cause of the fire.
